New Track Editor App

Track Editor allows you to trim tracks, remove unwanted points & combine multiple tracks. This app,due mid-January 2012, is a companion app to GPS Kit. You’ll be able to open tracks from GPS Kit into Track Editor and then save them back into GPS Kit.

GPS tracking is not always as accurate as you’d like. Track Editor is an way to edit unwanted segments & points. We’re really excited about this solution and hope that you’ll find it as useful as we do!

Importing/Exporting Via iTunes

When importing large files into GPS Kit, you’ll want to use iTunes file transfer. Here are the basic steps of importing via iTunes:

1) Plug your device into a computer with iTunes
2) Click the 'Apps' button at the top of your devices summary screen
3) Scroll down till you see the 'File Sharing' section
4) Select GPS Kit form this list
5) Drag your files into the 'Documents’ list
6) Your file will sync automatically (no need to do any entire device sync)
7) In GPS Kit on your device, tap the import button
1) Select your file from the list that appears.

You can also export large projects to iTunes from GPS Kit. You can do that by following these basic steps:

1) Tap the export button in GPS Kit
2) Select the filetype you want to export
3) Choose to export to iTunes
4) Plug your device into a computer with iTunes
5) Click the 'Apps' button at the top of your devices summary screen
6) Scroll down till you see the 'File Sharing' section
7) Select GPS Kit from this list
8) Your file will be in the ‘Documents’ list to the right.

GPS Kit 6.0 with New Ski Features Now Available

GPS Kit & GPS Kit HD 6.0 have been approved by Apple and are not avaialble on the iTunes app Store.

GPS Kit is made for any type of outdoors activity, but we’ve decided to add some additional features for our ski & snowboard users this season.

New winter sports features include:

❄ Ski/Snowboard runs analysis ❄ Separate uphill and downhill stats ❄ Vertical, speed, slope, distance

Other new features not specifically related to winter sports include:
 - Color by speed and elevation are back! - Color by distance/time - Google Earth 3D track playback - Awesome "Heli cam" GE 3D playback  - "Map" shortcut button for Squawk! friends - Quick picture mode (enable in system settings) - Offline documentation - Fixed thumbnail loading issues

New Ski Features Coming Soon to GPS Kit!

We’re submitting GPS Kit & GPS Kit HD 6.0 to Apple very soon with new features just in time for ski season!

GPS Kit is made for any type of outdoors activity, but we’ve decided to add some additional statistics for our ski users this season. New stats include:

- Runs
- Vertical
- Slope
- & more

Other new features not specifically related to skiing include new multicolored tracks. In 6.0 you will be able to color tracks by Elevation, Speed, Distance & Time.

We’ll also be adding some really amazing new KML export options for Google Earth. We’ll post details on that soon. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the 6.0 update!

Using GPS Kit with an iPod Touch or Wifi iPad

We’ve had several users ask if they can use GPS Kit with their non-gps toting iOS devices (iPod Touch & Wifi only iPad). The simple answer is yes - however, if you want to use any GPS features, you’ll need a 2rd party GPS attachment. The only 3rd party device that GPS Kit has been tested with is the BAD ELF. This is the device that we recommend.

Squawk! Overview

Overview: Squawk! allows you to track & chat with friends in real-time! It does not simply post ‘updates’ occasionally - it displays you & your friends’ actual movements!

On The Map: Tapping another user’s arrow on the map will give you the option to chat, add them as a friend, or drop a waypoint at their current location.

Public Channels: You can see & chat with people who are on the same channel as you. If you do not want to be seen by people you don't know, you can switch public channels off and use only your friends list.

Friends: Adding someone as a friend allows you to see each other & chat without the need to use a public channel. You can also send friends offline squawks via push notifications. You can send email invites to get more of your friends on Squawk!

Web Sharing: You can broadcast your Squawk! track on the web. Once you’ve enabled web sharing you can share your link with whomever you want. You can change your web link by tapping ‘reset’ at anytime.

A Note Concerning Privacy: Switching Squawk! off ensures that your position is not broadcasted to anyone, including friends & people using public channels. If privacy is a concern, we recommend switching public channels off so you’ll only broadcast your position to individuals in your friends list.
